RCP/Rh Anniversary Celebration In-Person Event – RCP would like to share details of the ‘Save the Date’ for the 50th RCP & 60th Rh Program Anniversary In-Person Celebration planned for June. We welcome all perinatal care providers across the province to join us for the celebration event on June 18th from 1-4pm in the Parker Reception Room at the IWK Health Centre. Welcome to Sarah Maguire – Please join us in formally welcoming Sarah Maguire to RCP. Sarah joined RCP as a Perinatal Nurse Consultant in February 2024, bringing valuable experiences from both the IWK and NSH. Her strong connections with perinatal care providers will help support collaborative initiatives between both health authorities to ensure high-quality, accessible perinatal and newborn care across the entire province. Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing Information - Nova Scotia care providers have identified a need for additional information and guidance with assisting pregnant persons who choose non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) to navigate the different NIPT vendors. Information has been provided on the RCP website as a measure to meet this need. Note: the information related to sample collection locations is applicable only to the Dynacare vendor and is accurate as of the date on this document / date posted to the RCP website.
Smart Parent Pilot - SmartParent is a free evidence-based text messaging program that sends information to achieve a healthy pregnancy and birth, timed and tailored to the specific stage of pregnancy. Funding has been secured for it to be piloted in NS in early Summer 2024 for one year. Stay tuned for more information to come.

SOGC Online Course: Trauma and Violence Informed Care - To encourage and facilitate a universal trauma and violence informed care approach to all patients, SOGC developed an online course. After successful completion of the program, the participant will be able to: Describe the effects of trauma on health outcomes; Define trauma- and violence-informed care; and apply the principles of trauma- and violence-informed care.
