The Nova Scotia Atlee Perinatal Database

The Nova Scotia Atlee Perinatal Database (NSAPD) is administered by the RCP. The Database contains demographic variables, procedures, interventions, maternal and newborn diagnoses, and morbidity and mortality information for all pregnancies and births occurring in Nova Scotia Hospitals since 1988.

The RCP maintains strict data management policies that ensure the confidentiality of information in the NSAPD. Please refer to the frequently asked questions and brochure on privacy for details.

Hospitals receive regular reports that describe mortality, morbidity and selected outcomes for their population. Provincial reports that include demographic, intervention and outcome data are produced periodically.

For details about data elements that are captured in the database, please refer to the coding manual. The publications listing cites research uses of the database since 1990.
