NRP Instructor Application / Workshop Registration

Thank you for your interest in attending an NRP Instructor Workshop. 

Please complete the application form below with all relevant information about your current role. Each application will be reviewed to ensure candidates meet the criteria outlined by CPS for becoming an NRP instructor.

NRP instructor courses have limited spaces in order to best support new instructors.

  • As part of the Regional NRP advisory committee RCP provides support to ensure that all NS and PEI facilities with birth services are able to sustain ongoing NRP education for their staff.
  • Workshop spaces may be determined by area of greatest need for instructors.

You will be contacted following the receipt of your application to confirm a space in the upcoming workshop or placement on a waitlist for a future workshop.

 

Please read the following information carefully to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements and understand the expectations for becoming an NRP instructor.

 

Eligibility Criteria for NRP Instructors:

  • Physicians, Nurses, Midwives, and Respiratory Therapists are eligible to become NRP instructors.
  • Applicants must have relevant and ongoing experience in neonatal resuscitation.
  • Applicants must have a sponsoring institution that supports neonatal resuscitation programming.
  • Other health professionals approved by their provincial/regional committee may be eligible to apply.
  • Provincial / regional committees and the Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS) will review all applications and reserve the right to deny course attendance and/or revoke status if deemed that the candidate does not meet eligibility criteria.

 

Expectations of NRP Instructor Candidates:

  • Successfully complete an NRP provider course at least 12-months prior to the instructor course.
  • Successfully complete the NRP online exam within 12-months of the instructor course.
  • Successfully complete the NRP Instructor course.
  • Successfully complete at least one "team teach" of an NRP provider course supervised by an NRP instructor trainer or delegate.
  • Register as an NRP Instructor with CPS.

 

Workshop Information:

  • The NRP Instructor Workshop is an 8-hour in-person workshop.
  • Attendance for the full workshop duration is mandatory for successful completion.
