This is a 4.5-hour workshop designed for staff working in emergency departments to support their care of pregnant patients who present in the second or third trimester of pregnancy.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify sources of knowledge & resources for obstetrical and newborn care.
- Identify the components of an obstetric assessment.
- Describe the most common presenting concerns during pregnancy:
- antenatal bleeding,
- threatened preterm labour,
- trauma, hypertension, and
- postpartum hemorrhage.
- Demonstrate the management of an imminent birth.
- Discuss the initial and ongoing assessment and care of a postpartum person and newborn.
