2017-2018 flu campaign underway

Nova Scotia's 2017-2018 Influenza Vaccination Program is well underway. A memo from Dr. Robert Strang, Chief Medical Officer of Health, outlines the program and encourages participation and support from the province's care providers. An accompanying Q&A provides detail on high risk groups, vaccine products available, ordering instructions, responsibility of immunization providers, eligibility, vaccine administration, side effects, billing and claims information, and reporting of adverse events. New this year is the Stakeholder's Key Messages Q&A with general information about the flu and how it is spread, the relationship to severe respiratory illnesses, statistics on last year's flu season, and further details about this year's program. We are also including the posters and a brochure from last year's campaign that the Department of Health and Wellness created to help dispel myths surrounding the flu vaccine and emphasize the importance of getting vaccinated. You can find these resources on the RCP website.
